Get Active London
London’s NHS physical activity team and the Pro-Active partnerships, in collaboration with key stakeholders, have been working together to increase participation in sport and physical activity across London. Public access to information is crucial to this approach and consequently the teams are in the process of creating a one-stop shop of sport and physical activity opportunities in the capital.
This on-line resource will give comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date information signposting people to a range of physical activity opportunities and provide supporting data such as whether an opportunity is fully inclusive. The resource will also be an invaluable tool for sport and health industry professionals to extract key statistics about London or a local area.
The tool has been developed in two distinct phases:
Phase 1
a simple activity finder that collates information already on the internet and can be inserted as a search box in any website. This function is complete and already aligned closely with the Department of Health’s Change4life campaign forming part of a broader promoting physical activity toolkit developed by the physical activity team.
This search tool can be embedded into any website using the following code:
<iframe width="475" height="90" frameborder="2" scrolling="no" src="/Portals/1/http://searchforsport.co.uk/search.php?key=91b47569-502d-49a5-bed2-3d9071b59912&scheme=golondon"></iframe></
Phase 2 (anticipated March 10 launch)
The incorporation of the Phase 1 database into the full website which will include advanced search and mapping features as well as reporting tools. This phase is called Get Active London.
